Week 6, Day 1 Assignment (Homework due at beginning of class on Wednesday!)

I want you all to write and email me an essay responding to prompt 1 on p. 474 of the Kaplan textbook before class starts on Wednesday. 

"The perceived greatness of any political leader has more to do with the challenges faced by that leader than with any of his or her inherent skills and abilities." 

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you either agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider the ways in which the statement might or might not be true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

YOU MUST: 

1. make sense; 2. directly respond to the prompt and stay on topic; 3. follow directions; 4. paraphrase the topic in your introduction; 5. consider both sides explicitly and in detail; 6. use examples that make sense; 7. are detailed; and 8. are explained; 9. have a strong conclusion; 10. use transitions, signposts, and indicator words; 11. have mostly correct grammar and spelling; 12. have a MINIMUM of five full paragraphs of five sentences each.
